Please note that
places in all Season 2009 / 2010 Camps
are now fully subscribed.
Every Summer the Club’s Training and Assessment Area conduct
a Bronze Camp (Bronzies) for
members aged at least 15 years to gain their Bronze Medallion and a Cadet Camp (Cadets) for members aged at least 13 years
to gain their Surf Rescue Certificate.
Members gaining these awards are then eligible to participate in
Surf Lifesaving Patrols of the Point
Lonsdale Back
Beach on a voluntary
basis as well as Aquatic Sports and other club activities. It is a
requirement that members who gain their Bronze or Surf Rescue Certificate
participate in regular rostered patrols – this is not an optional
component of Active membership of the Club. For Season 2008 /
2009 onwards a bond will apply to new members participating in the Bronze Camp and this amount will be refunded at the end
of the Season, should the minimum attendance at patrols be achieved.
Dates for Season 2009 / 2010 Camps are:
Bronze
Camp – Monday 14th
December 2009 to Sunday 20th December 2009
Current Members who hold the
Surf Rescue Certificate (and will be eligible to gain their Bronze
Medallion during Season 2009 / 2010) will be invited to a special separate
‘upskill Bronze Camp’
to be held during the week prior to the Bronze Camp
(Thursday 10th December to Sunday 13th December). A
separate Camp is being conducted
as it will not be necessary for them to attend a full week of training and
assessment to ‘upskill’ from the SRC to Bronze.
Cadet
Camp – Monday 11th
January 2010 to Saturday 16th January 2010
