In 1996, significant renovations to the Clubrooms
occurred and this included the formation of an upstairs Lounge. In
December 1996 the Glaneuse Bar was officially opened. The aim of
establishing the Glaneuse Bar and Lounge was to encourage and
welcome members and their guests to make full use of the Clubrooms
facilities. The facilities would encourage and promote social
interaction amongst members while making a modest profit to assist
the Club.
Hours of Operation:
The Glaneuse Bar is primarily open during the main
Summer School Holiday period, at weekends during the Patrol Season,
over Easter and at other times during special occasions, such as
long weekends and during special Club events. The hours of operation
appear on the window, next to the main entry door off Buckley’s Road
at the Clubrooms and on the Glaneuse Bar door.
As a general guide for Season 2007 / 2008, the Glaneuse Bar will be open
each Saturday night from the start of patrols until Christmas. From
Boxing Day through to the end of Nippers, the Glaneuse Bar will be
open 7 days a week. From the end of Nippers through to the end of
school holidays, the Glaneuse Bar will be open Thursday, Friday &
Saturday nights. From the end of the school holidays until the end
of Patrols, the Glaneuse Bar will be open on Saturday nights, as
well as long weekends and over Easter. Minimum hours are from 5:00pm
to 10:00pm.
A brand new plasma television is now located
in the lounge. We've repainted and redecorated and have a large
selection of memorabilia on display. We've got a large range of new
outdoor furniture and will be providing some better shelter
from the elements (both rain & sun), in time for the busy Christmas
period. Don't forget that a barbecue is located on the
verandah for your free use while enjoying the Glaneuse Bar
facilities. Why not have a barbecue meal while enjoying some drinks
with your friends ?
Drink Selection:
The Glaneuse Bar stocks a wide variety of drinks
which include a selection of Heavy & Light Beers, Basic and ‘Top
Shelf’ Spirits, Pre-packaged Mixers, White, Red & Sparkling Wines,
as well as soft drinks and snacks. Our aim is to provide a varied
selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and snacks at a
price that is competitive and encourages members (and their guests)
to visit. As a guide, Carlton Draught & Victoria Bitter stubbies
sell for $ 3.00, James Boags for $ 4.00 and Imported Beers for $
4.50. Basic Spirits are $ 4.00 and bottles of wine are $ 15.00, with
glasses for $ 3.00.
Members:
Club Members are welcome to attend the Glaneuse Bar
and may also invite guests to accompany them.
Guests:
Guests are most welcome to visit the Glaneuse Bar on
an occasional basis, however if you wish to visit the Glaneuse Bar
on a regular basis, you are encouraged to join the Club.
Joining the Club:
Why not support the Club and save the hassle of
signing in as a guest by becoming a Member. You don’t have to be a
‘lifesaver’ to join ! Associate membership is available to enable
you to utilise the wonderful facility and receive the many benefits
of being a member. Membership application packages are available
from the Glaneuse Bar.
Bookings:
The Clubrooms may be the ideal venue for your next
meeting, training session or seminar and there are a wide variety of
facilities and amenities available. These include a hall area, two
lounges, the Glaneuse Bar, kitchen, two limited accommodation areas
and a large outside grassed area. The Club encourages the use of the
Clubrooms as a ‘community facility’ and actively encourages local
‘not for profit’ organisations to make use of this facility. The
Club will endeavour to take bookings throughout the year, however
the Clubrooms facility is the administrative and social centre of
the Club and provides limited accommodation facilities for Club
Members. It is in heavy demand by members during the period from
November to April and at other periods throughout the year and may
not be available for your function, depending on the time of year
and facilities required.
An application package is available from the Club’s
website (see Clubrooms Hire).
The Point
Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club does not permit smoking inside the
Clubrooms and persons under 18 are strictly not permitted to consume
alcohol.
