January 2012 starting at 12.00pm. The Swim is now in its 24th
year and is one of the "Big Three" Open Water Swims on the
Victorian Open Water Swim Calendar, and is widely regarded to be one of the
most enjoyable and friendliest open water swims conducted. Again this year
in its part of the Great Victorian Swim series of open water swim series.
Discounted entry is available for all those that register before 30
December 2011.
The Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club invites you to
participate in one of the great open water swims and to support our Surf
Life Saving Club. It is one that is especially good for those less
experienced in open water swims or those that have not taken part in an
open water swim before. The Point Lonsdale SLSC thanks its sponsors of the
2012 Rip View Swim Classic.

conducted on 2nd January 2011 in conjunction with the Rip View
Swim Classic. This event provides an
opportunity to sample a number of the wineries of the Bellarine as well as
enjoy some specially prepared Rip View Swim Classic dishes from the Point
Lonsdale Road cafes. We look forward
to seeing you on the 2nd January 2012.
Course Overview:
The 1.4 km course is popular with swimmers as it is basically a
'straight line' course, you are not in 'deep' water, you are never too far from
shore, tidal influences are generally with the direction of the swim and
the smaller number of swimmers makes it a friendly and enjoyable swim.
It starts at the 'Springs
Beach', located at
the end of Lawrence / Bowen Road Point Lonsdale.

Safety:
To ensure that swimmers have a safe and enjoyable swim, the Club
spends a lot of time planning our safety organisation. On the day of the
swim, we suggest that you follow the safety directions :
1. There are a large number of Surf Lifesavers in attendance.
Please do not hesitate to call on their assistance at any time. They are
easily recognised in their Red and Yellow Patrol uniform.
2. Should you require assistance, then make your way to the
nearest Board or Ski paddler who will assist you. If necessary you may be
transported back to shore in one of the Inflatable Rescue Boats.
3. Should you need to have a break while completing the swim, then
also make your way to the nearest Board or Ski paddler.
4. First Aid facilities are available from St. John Ambulance officers at the start and finish
areas. A Medical Team, consisting of Ambulance/MICA Paramedics, St. John Ambulance officers and Surf Life Savers
will also be in attendance at the medical area.
5. The Inflatable Rescue Boats that we have operating
will attempt to stay as clear as possible from swimmers to reduce any
discomfort from motor fumes. The motor propeller is fully enclosed in a
protective case.
